About this work

The ‘king’ or winner of the annual shooting contest of the Company of Arquebusiers in Vlissingen was awarded this chain. He was permitted to wear the chain and carry other tokens of honour (a bird and a rifle) at special ceremonies such as town and guild celebrations.
