About this work
Blown glass. Globular body, long slender neck with an applied ring around the neck. Inscribed on the body in calligraphy: "Is 't leven bij den dis, daer geene wijn en is?" On the underside of the bottle: "Weikt iemands Tong wat uit bij Wijn? 't Moet in den Wijn geschreven zijn." Signed around the pontil mark: Willem van Heemskerk Æs 75 3/4 A°. 1688.
