About this work
This small equestrian statue of the powerful Frederick the Great was probably a gift from the King to Princess Wilhelmina of Prussia, his beloved niece, who at his behest married the Dutch stadtholder William V. Princess Wilhelmina corresponded regularly with her uncle in Berlin and received many gifts from him.
