Overjapon or mantle of silk brocade, with a cream-colored ground on which multicolored silk, gold, and silver flowers are woven. Model: the silk bodice is sewn onto a close-fitting lining waist of heavy linen. The lining bodice is fastened at the front with a lace threaded through eyelets of the fastening pieces, which fastening pieces are connected to the front edge of the front panel. This fastening is covered by a triangular bodice piece (devant de gorge). The front edge of the front panel of the silk bodice is turned over from the shoulder to below the waist, forming a flat pleat that is sewn down and runs along the décolleté and along the bodice piece to the bottom point of the bodice. On this flat pleat is a decoration consisting of a gathered strip of the same fabric as the overjapon, edged with a narrow galloon. The gathered strip is narrower at the shoulder than the pleat, so it does not entirely cover it there.
