About this work

The object is composed of the following parts: the bottom, the wall, the handle, two chains, and two wooden stoppers. The cylindrical wall has a profiled rim at the top, which is completely flat on the upper side. Against the rim, holes are drilled on both sides in line with each other in the shape of a standing rectangle, with a rounded top. In the handle, which is hollow towards the outside, two holes are drilled at the top attachment for the two chain links to which the wooden stoppers are attached. One of them is missing. At the front top, two stamped marks with respectively the crowned city arms of Amsterdam and a head looking to the left, surrounded by a wreath. Below that, the engraved year and inscription: Ao 1758 / Amsterdamse Wijn Stoop / Geëxamineert Na den Legger / Van de Heeren Thesauriers / Present de Wijnroeijers.
