About this work
Strip of natural-colored needle lace, Venise plat. Pattern of richly branched curling vines with small, diverse flowers on an irregular open ground with one-sided picoted spindles. Filling with twisted festoon stitches containing various motifs through cut-outs. The upper side was originally edged with a border of bobbin lace, but this finish is missing due to damage. The lower side is finished with a straight picot edge with loops.
