About this work

Rectangular snuffbox of painted porcelain. The box is painted on the outside with harbor views within quatrefoils. On the inside of the lid is a faun spying on a sleeping woman. The lid is connected to the box by a gilded silver mount. The box is unmarked. The snuffbox was made after a Meissen model from around 1735.
