About this work

Domed foot. Baluster-shaped stem with four knobs and two air bubbles. Conical bowl with a rounded base. On the bowl, flanked by two crowned lions, the crowned coat of arms of stadtholder Prince Willem V (1748-1806) surrounded by the garter with the inscription: HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE. Below a scroll with the motto: JE MAINTIENDRAI. Hanging from the garter's buckle is a bundle of seven arrows. They symbolize the Seven Provinces.
