Memorial stone for Jan van Speyk, in the courtyard of the Burgerweeshuis in Amsterdam, 20 October 1831. Plaque with inscription: 'To Jan Carel Josephus van Speyk, [...] on the state gunboat no. 2 for Antwerp, attacked by the rebellious Belgians, he set fire to the gunpowder to save the honor of the Dutch flag and died the hero's death, on 5 February 1831'.
