Funeral of Prince Willem IV in Delft

Silver medal. Obverse: Grote Markt in Delft with the civic guard and pikes deployed while the funeral procession passes through between them. Exergue: IN SECVUNDIS ET/ ADVERSIS OFFI/ CIOSISSIMA (Very dutiful, in good and bad times). Reverse: tomb next to which a weeping genius sits holding an inverted torch in his right hand. On the tomb a crown on a cushion. At the top the coat of arms of Delft behind which a trophy. In the exergue the name of the maker: N.(icolaas) V.(an) S.(winderen). Legend: VNIVERSVS DEPLORAT POPVLVS (The whole people laments). Subscript under the tomb: IN EXEQ(ulas) G(uilielmi) C(aroli) H(enrici) F(risonis)/ PR(incipis) AR(avsiae) ET NASS(aviae)/ IV FEBR(uarii) MDCCLII (At the funeral of William Charles Henry Friso, Prince of Orange and Nassau on 4 February 1752).
