About this work

Trade label of Bartholomeus Aukema. He sells silk, ribbons and florets, cords and buttons. In an oval frame Jonah escapes from the mouth of the whale. On the frame the coat of arms of Amsterdam with two putti holding ribbons and bobbins. At the bottom a description of the goods Aukema sells, with two caterpillars around the text. The shop is located on the Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal in the shop Jonas. Subject headings within the Atlas Zeden en Gewoonten: Trade, industry and traffic, Wholesale trade, Auctions, Brokerage and Insurance, Old business cards of shops and factories, advertising.
