About this work

The city drawing academy (Teeken-Academie) above the Corps de Garde in the Leidsepoort in Amsterdam in the year 1764. The drawing academy moved on 4 December 1767 to the town hall on the Dam. A group of male drawing students in a rather dark interior by lamplight drawing from a male nude model, the model seated seen from the front. In the margin at the bottom the title and the dedication to Willem Huyghens with his family coat of arms. Subject headings within the Atlas Zeden en Gewoonten: Fine Arts, Painting, Studios.
