About this work
Confinement room in which a wet nurse holds the baby in her arms, a maid hands her a dish with food. On the left sits the father next to the mother who is lying in bed, another child sits before a low table on which a bowl stands. On the right the cradle. Behind the persons a room screen decorated with the painting of a landscape with a castle. Subject categories within the Atlas Zeden en Gewoonten: Des Menschen Begin, Midden en Einde.
