About this work

Siege and capture of the fort Mardijk near the town of Mardijk near Dunkirk, 22 June - 9 July 1645, by the French army under Gaston, Duke of Orleans, against the Spaniards. At the top, a profile of the fort Mardijk on the beach with the rampart Het Houten Wambus, below it a plan of the fort and the surrounding land with the encampments of the besiegers. The fort surrounded by the French army. On the verso, rows of numbers printed from two plates. Subject headings within the Atlas Zeden en Gewoonten: Military Affairs; Defensive Works.
