About this work

View of the Raam Gate and its associated bridge in Amsterdam, seen from outside the city towards the north. Located at the level of the Lijnbaansgracht and the bastion Rijkeroord. Before the construction of a small stone gate behind the wooden fence (unclear exactly when, certainly in or after 1654 and before 1663). The large mill on the right was to be replaced in 1765 by the mill De Blom. Part of a print series of Amsterdam city gates. Subject categories within the Atlas of Customs and Manners: Military Affairs, City Gates.
