The Ambassador of the Laberlotten

The Ambassador of the Labberlotten presents himself at the window of the inn 't Bokki ('t Bokje) in the Haarlemmerhout. Possibly a prank played by Jacob Campo Weyerman and associates in 1739, possibly a prank by the landlady to attract more visitors. A group of people looks at the rear end, painted as a face, sticking out of the inn's window. In the adjacent window, a trumpeter with a black-painted face. On the left, sitting at a table, is the painter, Cornelis Troost, himself. Stands before the letter.
