About this work

Black painted diamond-shaped memorial board of Arnoldus van Wachtendonck, deputy director of Bengal (1665-1668). Made of Indian wood with a profiled wooden frame. In the center a helmeted coat of arms: a heraldic lily on a yellow field. Mantling and head of a black man as crest. Around it an inscription in yellow letters: 'Obyt W.A. Den 13 AuGusT Ano 1668'.
