About this work
One of two nearly identical printed earthenware cups, printed in black on the inside and outside; bottom of the inside: bust of a man (J.C.J. van Speyk), inner rim four coats of arms (of Utrecht, Friesland, Gelderland and the Generaliteit) with an image of an exploding ship in a cartouche between them; on the outside the same, but with the coats of arms of Zeeland, Holland, Overijssel and Groningen. The prints are not entirely identical. Note: see NG-1069-A.
