About this work

Statue of Willem Bilderdijk, standing with left leg forward. With the right hand he holds his cloak closed at the chest. In the left hand he holds a book. To the right next to him a stool on which two books, paper and an inkwell with pen. He has curly hair, wears a jabot and a shirt with how collar around which a wide cravat is wound, clogs and shoes with blunt noses. Profiled base, concave in the middle, with on the front a cartouche held up by two putti with inscription.
