Traveling case of Johan Rudolf Thorbecke

High square leather case with wooden frame and fabric and paper lining. The leather is simply worked. The lid is hinged and lockable with a small lock. On both sides are two leather handles, of which the upper one is worn away on each side. Everywhere, especially on the lid, there are remnants of address and shipping stickers. In the middle is written 'minister Thorbecke' in handwriting. Presumably used by him on his travels through Germany in the period 1822-1833 and on later trips.
