About this work

Bottle from the VOC ship 'Witte Leeuw'. Pear-shaped bottle decorated in underglaze blue. The decoration is divided into narrow and wide fields. In the wide fields on the belly flowering plants, on the shoulder and neck stipple and ribbon work. From the VOC ship 'Witte Leeuw', which sank in 1613. The top of the neck is missing, 98% preserved. The sherd is glassy and has little embedded dirt. The bottom is glazed and the foot ring is straight and faceted. Little oven sand was found.
