About this work
Bowl from the VOC ship 'Witte Leeuw', complete. The bowl has a flaring rim and a rounded lip. The footring projects outward. The sherd shows much contamination and is of poor quality. The base is roughly finished. The glaze is milky and bluish with pinholes. The decoration is underglaze and painted thinly in cobalt blue. The inside of the bowl is decorated with a flower in a circle. The lip edge has a circular line. The exterior is decorated with a continuous frieze of stylized flowers.
