About this work

Bowl from VOC ship the 'Witte Leeuw'. Bowl with raised, slightly scalloped rim, decorated in underglaze blue, 100% present. In the center a grasshopper on a rock among flowering plants. The representation is enclosed by a broad, blue star-shaped line. On the wall drop-shaped fields with auspicious symbols and flower branches. The shard is glassy white and has little baked-in dirt. The glaze is blue-tinted. The bottom is glazed and the footring stands inward. Little kiln sand found.
