About this work
Complete bowl from VOC ship 'De Witte Leeuw'. The glaze is thick, has pinholes and firing cracks, has no luster, is irregularly craquelured and is flaking on the wall of the interior. The bowl has a flaring wall and the footring is fairly high. The base is unglazed and red fired. The footring is rounded. There is little kiln sand found. The bowl is very poorly fired and drawn.
