About this work

Fragment of a plate from the VOC ship 'Witte Leeuw', 50% present; parts of the wall and base are missing. The sherd is glassy white with little embedded dirt. The glaze is blue-tinted and shows pinholes and small firing cracks on the corners of the rim. The glaze flakes off over parts of the rim. The base is glazed. The footring is turned inward, V-shaped, and faceted. More than 20 grains of oven sand were found.
