About this work
Plate from the VOC ship 'Witte Leeuw', 40% present. The sherd is glassy white with little embedded dirt. The glaze is blue-tinted and shows pinholes and small firing cracks on the corners of the rim. The glaze flakes off over parts of the rim. The base is glazed and the footring is V-shaped and faceted. More than 20 grains of oven sand were found. The rim is scalloped.
