Cartridge case from the wreck of the Dutch East Indiaman 't Vliegend Hart

About this work
Copper oblong box, slightly curved, with rounded sides. The box is flat on the bottom and open at the top. Inside are twelve vertically arranged copper (soldered) cartridge tubes. A row of small holes in the upper rim served for attaching the (missing) cover. In its complete state, the cartridge case was encased in leather, with a leather lid and a strap. The cartridge tubes could hold 12 cartridges of rolled paper with gunpowder and a musket ball. Cartridge case.
