About this work

Three-dimensional representation in a recessed picture frame, a so-called 'ship-in-a-cabinet' or cabinet model. A nocturnal moonlit sky above waves with white crests. In the right corner a lighthouse. On the water to the right a sailing cutter, moving from right to left. To the left a fully rigged half-model of a three-masted full-rigged ship named Amsterdam, moving from left to right, flying the Dutch flag. The whole in a black frame with a gold border.
