A guardhouse (watchman's hut) at the entrance of a village or district. In the foreground two guards with long wooden forks. Further to the right seated Javanese people and to the left two Javanese selling food. Part of the photo album presented by the Soerabayasche Vereeniging van Suikerfabrikanten to Frederik Beyerinck, resident of Surabaya.
