Draft letterbook Jan Brandes (1743-1808) during his voyage from Batavia via Ceylon and the Cape to the Netherlands, 1785-1787

The object consists of the following parts: the foot, stem, and drip pan cast as one piece, and the candle spike. The stem is hollow inside up to the upper knop. The profiled conical foot transitions into the round stem with two knops, and then into the drip pan, on which the candle spike is attached. The raised wall of the round recessed drip pan bends into a lying rim, which transitions into a narrow raised rim. The foot, stem, and drip pan are decorated with fine grooved rings. The candlestick has three lugs on the inside at the bottom, to which the three feet in the form of a fanciful animal are attached. The three feet and the spike are renewed.
