About this work

Decorative plate with a 'Pro Patria' scene on the flat with a lion and the Dutch maiden. Below the maiden: 'VOOR VHEID' and 'ENG DIENST'. On the rim, evenly distributed four lines of verse: 'de Vrijheid spand Een groote boog', 'om vrijheid te verkrijge', 'maar di in vrijheyd leeft omhoog', 'doet de Aarsche vrijheyd krijge'. The colouring is brown-green-red, decoration branches, leaves and fruits (apples of Orange?). Sticker on the back: Leeds and Turner 1780.
