About this work
Bottle 'Constantia' wine, 1685. In the second half of the 17th century, a town grew up around the castle at the Cape, originally known as the Kaapse Vlek. Here, rich Europeans built estates in the surrounding country. One of these estates, Constantia, had its own vineyard. Constantia wine was exported around the world. This bottle was found off the coast of Ghana (West Africa).
