About this work
Funeral on December 20, 1943, of an English prisoner of war on the cemetery just outside Camp Mühlberg. Salvo shots by German soldiers were standard at funerals. The wreath with ribbons bearing swastikas on the coffin is from the Wehrmacht. Part of a group of photographs taken by Dick van Maarseveen in the German prisoner-of-war camp Stalag IV B in Mühlberg during the period 1943-1945.
