Oval portrait of Herman Willem Daendels in a gilded frame with glass on the front and back. It shows Daendels just before he begins his military career in the French revolutionary army. He wears a fine silk costume and a fashionable powdered wig. The head is turned to the right. The back of the portrait consists of braided hair.
