About this work

Lead weight of 1 kilo, 1857. The original weight was made of cast iron and dates from before the introduction of the metric system. With pieces of lead the weight was increased to a metric kilogram. The added lead is stamped by a metrologist. On loan from NMi Museum IJkwezen, Delft.
