Wheel-lock pistol

Part of a pair. The external wheel has a hook at the bottom; the lock is blued and partially gilded; the lockplate is damascened with golden arabesques around silver rosettes. The round barrel has a sight rib flanked by two flat surfaces marked by two short ribs at the rear of the barrel; decorated with three panels in the same manner as the lockplate, at the rear, in the middle, and at the breech; stamped at the bottom with HI. The stock has a grooved fore-end and is flattened opposite the lock; before the protrusion for the lock, 18 is stamped. Apart from the unadorned fore-end and ramrod tube, the iron furniture is blued, gilded, and decorated in the same manner as the lock and barrel; it consists of two rhomboid screw plates for the lock bolts, a trigger guard in the form of a loop, and a buttplate with triangular traces; the ramrod has a cap of gilded iron.
