About this work

Plug bayonet. The long dagger has a grip shaped so that it fits into the barrel of a rifle. The palmwood hilt is turned in the form of a baluster and provided with a yellow copper cap; the rest of the formerly gilded, yellow copper furniture consists, among other things, of a small quillon and a shell-shaped butt plate. The straight, six-sided blade is etched on both sides with a panel with a signature and a war trophy, a panel framed by scrolls and a basket with foliage.
