About this work

Part of a pair. The lock is unadorned; the external wheel has a hook on the underside and is engraved with a small o. The round barrel is stamped at the rear with two marks: a crown under a star and the capital letter H in a cartouche of palm branches under a star; at the bottom is an undecipherable (assembly?) mark and on 96-B probably a T. The unadorned stock is of rosewood. Apart from the loop-shaped iron trigger guard, the furniture is of silver and consists of a pan cover and a round ramrod tube, both engraved with cross-flowers, and the band around the butt cap engraved with floral scrolls; the ramrod is fitted with a silver cap.
