Medal awarded to Christaan Pit by the City of Leiden on the occasion of the defense of his dissertation at the University of Leiden on 28 November 1674 (so-called promotion with the cap)

Struck round gold medal with a link in the eye; obverse: standing woman (goddess Minerva) with helmet and spear, over whose outstretched right arm a garment hangs and who holds a hat (cap) in her right hand, with an owl at her feet, with inscription and engraved text at the bottom; reverse: standing (Dutch) lion with head turned toward the viewer, holding a curved sword aloft in its right forepaw and a crowned coat of arms with two crossed keys (Leiden) in its left forepaw, with inscription and text at the bottom.
