About this work
Military vehicles drive onto the Nieuwe Zijds Voorburgwal during the evacuation of the Groote Club (corner Kalverstraat / Dam), from which the Kriegsmarine had fired on the crowd on the Dam on May 7. Many Amsterdamers watch as the captured Germans are taken away. This presumably happened a day after the shooting, i.e., on May 8.
