About this work

Flag of the Holy Roman (German) Empire with a double black eagle on a white field under an imperial crown, holding a sword and scepter in its claws, wearing the Order of the Golden Fleece around its neck, and with a shield on its chest again showing the arms of the Holy Roman (German) Empire, with a blank shield in the center where the arms of the reigning king or emperor could be drawn. Flag on flagstaff and mast foot. Depicted on folio 6r. Part of a flag book with flags from Europe, North Africa, the Near and Far East.
