About this work

Gilt silver Geuzen medal (gilding partly worn), with a pearl border on both sides featuring thicker 'links' at the top, bottom, and sides, and a vaulted (Baroque) decoration at the top near the suspension eye, with a suspension ring in the eye at the top; obverse: bust of a man in profile to the left (King Philip II of Spain), within legend, with cut '1566'; reverse: two men (nobles) shaking hands, within legend.
