Half-model of the line-of-battle ship 'Kortenaer'

Mould model (port side) in mainly oak wood of the line ship 'Kortenaer' (three-master) with bulkheads, without gunports. Twisted stern, hollow keel; stern and side galleries not indicated; straight rudder with square rudder post. Rising stern and round underwater hull. Scale approximately 1:50. The vessel of the same name was built in 1795 at the Admiralty Yard in Rotterdam according to the design of Pieter Glavimans Jzn and dismantled in 1806 in Surabaya. Of this line ship (third class) the RM has another half model (second design, NG-MC-268) which, logically, is more detailed. In the Naval Models Room there are more of these 'duos', such as of the 'Wreeker' (NG-MC-269 and NG-MC-270). With the usual hanging holes in the back plate and the oval black-lacquered nameplate (Kortenaer 1795), well comparable to all other naval models from this period.
