About this work

Writing desk with twisted legs and cross-braced beams, featuring an oval in the center below. The top slopes forward and contains a central oval copper engraving of King Willem I in full dress uniform. The engraving is flanked on both sides by a lion. In the four corners of the top are medallions: 1. Bottom left: Willem I with inscription. 2. Bottom right: Prince Maurits with inscription. 3. Top right: Nicholas I with inscription. 4. Top left: Peter the Great. A lock is situated at the top center. The top surface bears the coat of arms of the House of Nassau.
