From the collection of Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam. Free to download, adapt and use — no permission needed.
About this work
The chair has four legs with round feet, with woodworm holes here and there. The horizontal graduated arc is made of wood (broken in one place and a spindle comes through the paper in another) and pasted with paper. Also the map on the globe is made of paper, intact but very dirty. The vertical graduated arc is made of copper. The map is provided with Dutch names and Latin terms. Australia is mapped three-quarters ('detecta 1644'). The northern Pacific is unknown land. Accompanied by a celestial globe of the same maker.
