Model of an Artillery Crane on Tracks
From the collection of Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam. Free to download, adapt and use — no permission needed.
Model of a heavy crane on eight wheels, a sledge and a loading platform running on rails, and a cart. The tackle has two winches with cranks on both sides; by turning the drums with gears, the winches can be combined, but the mechanism is now defective. The crane arm rotates around its axis; the rope runs over a pulley through the king to the back, between two vertical rollers and over a pulley back to the front and over a pulley at the end of the arm. A ring and double hook are attached at the end. There are three rail sections, one of which is a turntable with ball bearings. One sledge is a frame with eight wheels like the crane; the other is a loading platform with rails, which must be placed upside down on the other rail sections with balls in the rails, functioning as ball bearings. The rail sections and the loading platform have rings on the sides for dragging and securing with rope.
