Model of a differential pulley. A differential pulley consists of a continuous chain running over a set of upper sheaves of unequal diameter and over a single lower sheave with a hook. The difference in diameter between the upper sheaves ensures that when pulling on the end coming from the larger sheave, less chain is fed to the lower block via the smaller sheave than is pulled away, reducing the distance between the two blocks. This specific model also has a drive wheel with a continuous rope, the movement of which is transmitted via a set of gears to the pulley in a ratio of 58/10.
