Model of a Rudder for Paddle Steamers

Model of a rudder and sternpost. The rudder has a round rudder post (Soetermeer version; see NG-MC-219, NG-MC-220 and NG-MC-221) and is slightly shorter than the sternpost. The head has no hole for a rudder pintle, but a short pin protrudes through it. Three wooden rudder stocks and a wooden gudgeon with two eyes. The rudder blade has lifting straps at the back and bottom. Below against the rudder is a rotating lip that turns in an opening in the sternpost and prevents the rudder from rising.
