About this work
Model of an emergency rudder made of stiff ropes bound between planks. The ropes protruding above the blade are bound together in a leather stocking. The back of the rudder blade is reinforced with a long beam, the front with three shorter ones. The rudder gear has been replaced by chains in three places, from where lines likely run to the deck on both sides. Steering was probably done by means of the tackle mounted on the heel. The blade is also provided with shrouds.
