About this work

Wooden gilded knob of a flagstaff; upper part in the shape of a budding flower, consisting of four heads around which twice a grapevine and twice a rosevine; on top a cross-shaped leaf motif and four flower-like buds; lower edge four cherubs against a background of drapery around; below a hole for the staff with a rosette-like decoration around it. Below this belongs a longer section of polychrome wood with vines and roses on a dark background. Presumably used on an Amsterdam ship.
